Date: 2006-05-31 09:22 pm (UTC)What should I be feeding my basil besides water? I have two plants that have a few sets of leaves on them now (not enough to pick, but something, anyway!) and I'm wondering when they'll need more than just water. Thanks. :)

Date: 2006-05-31 09:26 pm (UTC)If you started with good potting soil and some compost (ie lots of nutrients), I don't think you should need anything besides water just yet.

Date: 2006-05-31 10:51 pm (UTC)They are potted in a mix of good potting soil and manure, which I figure is good for some period of time, but I don't know how long. I still want to know how long before they get big enough to eat, though!

Date: 2006-05-31 09:37 pm (UTC)Whenever I read your list on the weeks that I also get delivery, I can't help but formulate wishes.
This week I wish for yams.
I think it's hopeless to wish against broccoli yet again, but it worked last time, so here goes. I wish for no broccoli in this week's delivery.

Date: 2006-06-01 01:52 am (UTC)I hope you get yams. They're listed in the "most boxes contain" part, so there's lots of hope. (Broccoli is, too, but maybe it'd be less annoying if you also get the yams?)

Date: 2006-06-01 12:20 pm (UTC)My prior broccoli practice has been to buy just as much as I need for one meal and cook it within a day or two. If I get a broccoli craving I can just stop by the store and buy a little. To do so with a lot of things would defeat my main purpose in having produce delivered, but as long as this isn't a slippery slope in that direction...
