chatting with random strangers

magidtoday turned out to be a good thing.
i was waiting for a friend & ended up talking with one of the vendors at the 0 church st craft fair (the one who does interesting things with old cutlery) as the rain started pouring down. he's changed his life in a lot of ways, and said he's grown into the person he's always hoped he'd be. i hope i'll be able to say that when i grow up.
then at tag's, noticing a couple with canning jars, and asking what they use them for. turns out he cans all sorts of things (brandied peaches!), and wanted to trade chutney recipes (hard for me, since i don't much use a recipe, though i have one for cran chutney that's awesome (i need to make it this year!)). i ended up giving him my (work) email, and we might hang out and cook sometime.
random yet nice.
and i managed to get a few things i needed (and some i didn't), check out some stores i haven't been in in a while.
not only did cthulhia go around looking at cool stores with me, and force me to have hot chocolate at burdicks (kicking and screaming, of course! :-) cthulhia also introduced me to a new game, lost cities, which was a lot of fun (i WILL win next time!), though i admit i didn't really pay attention to the art on the cards as much as getting the playing strategies worked out.
time to do that second batch of chutney, maybe even start packing, otherwise i will come home to a box of smelly mangoes (ugh).
