My friend Z is now the mother of a second baby boy. Mazel tov to her, her husband, and her other son, a wonderful three-and-a-half-year-old (source of many fun stories :-).
(Now I really have to finish the kippah for the boy; the one for the baby is finished.)

Two other women I know had baby boys this week. And most of the other women I know who were pregnant this year had boys... whassup with that?

Earlier, I got involved in an on-line discussion group for pregnant women due in August of 2005. More than half of us have had boys -- at least 55-60%, I'd say.

Three women on my friends list (including you) were pregnant this year, and all had boys. A long-distance friend had a boy this spring. There are six women who were all due this fall in the minyan; the three of them that I know all had boys. Not a single girl in my acquaintance, out of seven pregnancies. I know, statistics, yadda yadda, but it's still odd.

Come to think of it ... this was also a "boy" year for my extended family. Several of my cousins are/were also expecting this year. We were all due in August or September, and I think it worked out that 3/5 to 2/3 of us (I can't remember exactly how many pregnancies there were) were also having boys.

Maybe THE GOVERNMENT is putting hormones in the water supply so that we make more boys to fight the terrorists. This is evidence that they plan to keep fighting for at least another 18 years.

I don't think THE GOVERNMENT is organized or far-thinking enough to do this. Shadowy groups of handlers who got this government to where it is, sure, I could buy that, with a side of conspiracy theory, please.
