more marathon stuff
I wonder how the marathon organizers would categorize trans runners. Maybe there'd be new categories?

For wheelchair racers, is it easier to have legs (something to brace on, perhaps), or not (less weight to move that many miles)? (Um, assuming that the person has no sensation in the legs.).

Interesting to see runners pacing the green line trolleys, many of which were wrapped in marathon-themed ads (Nike, I think). The conductors tooted their horns for the runners, and people on the train were watching the race, too.

work
It is incredibly cool to work at a place where the assumption is that they'll get me something I can eat when there's a departmental meal. And it's particularly welcome this week!

the wages of not cleaning earlier
I had to turn down a free ticket to Alvin Ailey last night. If only... (Though I hate the Wang Center, I'd go for Ailey.)

mini-review: Wallaby maple yogurt
Wallaby brand yogurt is organic, and "Australian style," whatever that means. I got maple, just because I wasn't in the mood for fruit, and it's really quite nice. It's thin yogurt (despite pectin listed in the ingredients), which would make a nice dessert sauce with something. Not egregiously sweet, either. I'll likely try other flavors.

If I had to eat a wallaby, maple would be as good a flavor as any! :)

A famous gourmet travelled to Mercy, Australia, where they make a famous tea out of the Koala bear. As astonishing and disgusting as this sounds, it is in fact a delicacy famed the world over. As a famous gourmet, he had to try it.

He travelled to Australia, took a caravan out into the outback, and indeed had to travel by car for three more days until he arrived at Mercy.

He went into the hotel at Mercy, and took a seat in the lounge, where he ordered a cup of the famous tea.

What came back was even more disgusting than he had imagined; there were bits of fur, claws, some part of the animal he couldn't quite recognize. All sitting in a stinky broth.

He tried to bring the cup to his lips, but between the stench and the outstretch Koala claw, he wasn't even able to come close.

He called the waiter over, and asked if perhaps, he could at least have a tea strainer, to simplify the issues with drinking this.

"My good sir!" replied the waiter, a bit taken aback, "I am afraid we cannot do that. As I am sure you have heard, . . . "

" . . . the Koala tea of Mercy is never strained!"

Why do you hate the Wang Center?

The building is pretty inside, really pretty, but unless you're willing to give an arm and a leg, you're always in nosebleed seats that require using binoculars to see anything. I've sat in the Emerson Majestic for dance performances and seen the show much more easily. Maybe I've been spoiled by going to a lot of small-theater productions.

Oh, and it doesn't help that they kicked out the Boston Ballet last fall, so they couldn't do Nutcracker there (their major fundraiser). And nowhere else is the stage that large, so they had to redo all sorts of stuff to stage the show elsewhere. But that's much more recent.
