Nuisances of the day

• the icky residue left on my hands after peeling butternut squash, rather like that of fresh zucchini
  
• laundering the new autumnal tablecloth, and having it shrink a critical couple of inches

i thought daylight was supposed to shrink in the autumn, not tablecloths.
