I just realized that when I host, I wish I could clone myself to have one for each room. I could see that people are having a good time (er, hopefully), make sure there's enough food, enjoy the flow, and not miss out on good conversations in other rooms. Something about hosting brings out a desire for ownership by complete experience that is completely absent when I'm a guest. I think this may be part of why I tend to have dinner or other smaller gatherings, not only my apartment's awkward layout.

Grrr. I hate when technology eats the first version of a post; reconstructing (as opposed to editing) never works quite so well.
