Farm share, week 14
Sep. 22nd, 2004 06:05 pmA big bag of veggies.... and a bag of fruit!
Yummy. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it all, but mmmm.... The weekly newsletter had recipes for crumble and for apple chutney. I've not tried apple chutney before. And I could put pears in, too. If I had a couple of limes and a bag or two of cranberries, I could make a cranberry chutney, also (Alas, for I have no cranberries in my freezer. It is a sad day, indeed.)
OK, I typed this in an email window and pasted it to the LJ update window, as usual. Except that the LJ update screen has changed. The only real nuisance to the change is that it's wider than my usual screen, which means horizontal scrolling. Which I hate. I hope this isn't the final format...
- a half-peck bag of mixed apples and pears (4 pears, 9 apples)
- a half-pint of yellow cherry tomatoes
- a bunch of basil
- a huge bunch of kale (any takers?)
- a large head of gorgeous Boston lettuce
- a bunch of carrots with greens (7 carrots, to be precise)
- a green pepper and a cubanelle pepper (anyone?)
- an Asian eggplant
- two smallish red onions
- a large delicata squash
- two heads of garlic
- an acorn squash
- a couple of pounds of red-skinned potatoes (13, of mixed sizes)

Date: 2004-09-22 04:06 pm (UTC)I made apple muffins with some of the apples we picked over the weekend, and they're good, but they don't use up many apples. Maybe your coworkers would like some; I've been eating at least two a day.

Date: 2004-09-22 07:13 pm (UTC)I picked apples just before Rosh Hashana, and there's still a few left. All I did was make two pies, and have some raw, with or without honey. I haven't made applesauce yet this year, and there's apple crisp, and baked apples, and all sorts of things. I don't think I need to resort to my orkers just yet :-).

Date: 2004-09-22 05:38 pm (UTC)Yuck! I just looked at it, after you pointed it out. Die, new format, die!!!
Err, excuse me.
This new format makes unwarranted assumptions about browser settings and/or screen real-estate. I find it a major step backward in terms of usability.
Better?

Date: 2004-09-22 07:16 pm (UTC)Not better at all. What I'd wanted was the window for the body of the post to be longer than it had been (it was pretty short before), but definitely not wider!
Gah. I wonder how final this is...

Date: 2004-09-23 03:36 am (UTC)Thanks for finding the rest of the info. I dislike IE, and if I'd wanted to download a client, I suspect I'd've done it by now. (Really, I don't use the window for long, since I seem to compose better in an email screen.) I don't see why they'd change the interface before they'd debugged the new one. Feh.
