Passover groceries that could theoretically be available, but aren't, to the best of my knowledge:
tapioca pearls
almond butter
Greek-style yogurt
capers
coconut milk
almond milk

What else?

I've seen almond butter, so we can cross that off the list.

Thinking...

(and loved your "seder table")

Ooh, where did you see almond butter? With that, I could make vegan truffles....

(And thanks :-)

My mother was able to get almond milk. I can ask her where if you want.

at someone's house... will ask when I can...
I would make [livejournal.com profile] 42itous's cookies -- 1 c each of nutbutter and sugar to each egg
truffles also sound yummerific

That would be awesome; not sure whether I'll get some for this year, but knowing it's there and acquirable for next year would be fabulous.

Oh, hey, buckeyes made with almond butter would be totally kfP!

Good list.

The Butcherie had almond milk, albeit with an odd ingredient or two included.

Would you consider investing in a blender for Pesach in order to make nut milks? A small food processor in order to make nut butters?

And regular yogurt can at least be thickened by straining out some of the liquid with the use of muslin or cheesecloth.

Moed tov!

She tells me she bought the almond milk at Butcherie. So maybe they still have some.

I saw almond butter in NYC. It was very expensive.

I bought almond milk this year, first year I've seen it. They have regular and vanilla flavored. I bought vanilla. There is also almond butter available from a couple different companies.

Regarding the coconut milk, I believe that there are many products with an ou that are also ou-p but unmarked. However if you call the ou they will tell you whether they are ou-p. I heard a radio show last week with rabbi eli gersten answering some questions about those products. If you are desperate for the product I would call him and leave a message.

Why must you profane buckeyes with almonds? ;-)

We recently made some almond butter, which Ellen added some chocolate to. My contribution to the "we" was sitting there pulsing the food processor for like 20 minutes, so ping Ellen if you want details.

Because I'm not fond of peanuts?

I think I'd want a different food processor were I to make almond butter myself.

Thank you!

I'm not in desperate need of any of these items; it's more about things I've considered making but realized I couldn't due to not having the right ingredient. I have lots of food around though, so there's no worries about not being able to make *something* :-)

Moed tov.

Thanks!

I don't think I'd get a blender for Pesach before getting one for the rest of the year (all I have now is an immersion one). Possibly a mini food processor, if I can find one that's easy to clean.

It's true about yogurt; I'm just lazy :-)

Moed tov!

;-P

I've used it during the rest of the year, so kashering it would be a bit of nuisance.

Apparently American Almond (http://www.americanalmond.com/ ) does K for P runs of many of their products...if you can time you order correctly. When I ordered the beginning of March, they only had Almond Paste in K of P... but look at circle K for their complete list.

A couple of years back we bought some coconut milk that was circle K-P...but the P was misused.

not one but two brands of almond butter are available in all the big grocery stores around here this year! we have one, it's good. tapioca starch is what i want to find - it does exist on the retail market, i hear, but i have yet to find it. i want it for next year, i'm on a mission!

what store did you see it at? i wish i'd seen the almond milk. i would love if coconut milk was okay but i seem to recall it needs a P. i could be wrong, though.

i feel like food processors and blenders are great ideas for neighbors or friends to share. on sunday i was almost desperate enough to knock on my neighbor's door... all i needed was a food processor to puree a few onions in!

I found tapioca starch this year; I got it just because it was there. If I see it next time I'm at the Butcherie, should I get you a container?

I've never seen Spanish olives, but I have to admit there have been enough other kinds of olives that I haven't wanted them particularly.

OK, I've gotten 4 1-lb cannisters of tapioca starch for you (wasn't sure how many you'd want; hope this is ok). They're $3 each, and we should figure out how to get them to you (not sure whether someone up here is headed your way in the near future...).

hm. i don't know who's heading up there. that's more than i need, but i guess i can use it during the year as well. let me know how much it would cost to ship and i can paypal you after 5/1.

No worries if that's more than you need; I can put it away for next year if you don't want it. If I see Currentlee over chag I might ask when he's next headed in your direction, which might work.
