Farm share, week 3
Jul. 7th, 2004 05:47 pmThis week's bag includes
Last year, I was inundated with greens. I like having other things as well, but I'd like more greens (and those turnips last year were wonderful; perhaps I should get to a farmer's market...).
In porch news, not only do I have a couple dozen cherry tomatoes growing, I also have the first morning glory flowers of the season, beautifully purple.
Today has been a fruit processing day. I cut up the cantaloupe, made three pints of preserved lemons (this batch using wholly quartered fruits), and picked a half-large-pot-full of sour cherries, which I'm about to pit and freeze.
- a bunch of six medium carrots
- three largish beets with greens
- a head of green lettuce
- four garlic scapes (with the flower heads really large)
- a small bunch of dill
- a big bunch of basil
- a medium cousa squash
- a small zucchini
- a small summer squash that's two-toned, with light green on one end
