Farm share, week 2
Jun. 30th, 2004 06:10 pmAnother big bag of stuff. I was too rushed to grab the newsletter (there's no easy parking nearby, and traffic coming...), so it looks like I have
From the amount of water in the bag, I can tell that some stuff has been washed, but I'm sure there's still a healthy amount of dirt in the lettuces (another difference between farm veggies and supermarket ones). Still no arugula, but the red leaf makes up for it in other ways.
Notes: the strawberries have been inhaled, and the squashes are roasting with onions and tomatoes.
Completely off-topic: has the box for the main body of a post always been labeled "Event"? I just noticed it now and it strikes me as odd.
- a medium bag of spinach
- a pint of strawberries
- a fairly big bag of peas
- a bunch of basil (roots and all!)
- three medium beets, with greens
- a bunch of cilantro (bringing that to the move tonight; someone is sure to take it)
- a red leaf lettuce of some sort (narrower leaves then the usual)
- a huge Boston lettuce
- three garlic scapes
- two medium zucchinis
- two cousa summer squashes (the light green ones, that I always think of as Israeli, since that was where I first saw them, and that was the only summer squash I could find)
- a pattypan squash
