Farm share, week 1
Jun. 23rd, 2004 05:59 pmThis year I have a share from a new farm, Re-Vision Urban Farm in Dorchester, which has an association with Drumlin Farm in Lincoln. The entertaining part is that the farm I used to get shares from (Waltham Fields Community Farm) has now joined their partnership.
This week's bag includes
Interesting. The list of produce includes chives, but there aren't any in the bag. Ah, well. edit: Interestingly, in the other share there's a small summer squash and a cousa squash. Oh, and for comparison, this is what I got the first week last year. I wouldn't mind some arugula...
According to the newsletter, there are still some shares available.
Current Scent: alluring strawberries
This week's bag includes
- a big bunch of cilantro (given away; I unfortunately can't bear the stuff)
- a quart or so of beautiful strawberries (and I can go pick more in the next two weeks, too, up to 6 quarts)
- two big heads of lettuce (it looks like one is green leaf, the other romaine)
- a bunch of bright lights Swiss chard
- a medium bag of spinach
- a medium bag of peas in the pod
- four garlic scapes
- a smallish zucchini
- a tiny patty pan squash
