Attack... of the vicious tomaaaaytoes!
May. 12th, 2004 10:04 pmAs of an hour ago, I'd had a productive evening, but then I made my mistake. The cupboards being relatively bare, I decided to use the can of Campbell's vegetarian vegetable soup I bought in a fit of excitement that it was kosher (some months ago). It even had a pop-top lid, so I didn't need a can opener!
I would've been better off using the can opener. I started to open the lid, and it immediately managed to pop back in such a way that it gashed my middle finger. Not one of those little paper-cut-y things where it takes a moment to even register, but a definite "oh, damn why did I do that" cut, with the obligatory dash to the bathroom to bleed in greater comfort (or at least, with less chance of bleeding over the food or kitchen implements). I rinsed it off, impressed at how much blood was coming out, and wrapped it up, applying pressure and holding it up. I read my friendsfriends page while doing it, to distract myself from the not-cooking I was doing. Back into the bathroom to take the tissues off... and it was still gushing when the pressure was removed. Gah! I cleaned up the sink, and rewrapped the finger. Eventually, almost 30 minutes after I cut it, it stopped bleeding, though the skin under the cut looks rather drained of the red stuff. It's not a big cut, either, just a u-shape inconveniently located near one fingertip.
The soup was pretty mediocre, too.
