We're going to have mold remediation done in the basement, which means (among other things) that I am going to have my storage area completely cleaned out. Well, except for the tomato cage. Those tomatoes can get pretty pesky.

The lavender I brought in this fall is enjoying being in the kitchen. It's not only growing leaves and branches, but putting out new buds too. The flowers this summer were lavender (surprise!), but the ones blooming now are white. I wonder why.

Artichokes fascinate me. They have little actual taste, rather a sensation that acts on the tongue in a completely different way from other tastes, somehow. Or at least, that's how I experience it. Somehow it's a little deeper than on the surface, and there's an after-halo of light sweetness far back after eating an artichoke heart. Though I suppose it proves I'm not a Tigger, since I like eating these thistles.

It's time to start planning food for Arisia. Last year I brought this, and I'm likely to get similar sorts of things this year, now that Shabbat dinner plans are mostly squared away. A stop at Trader Joe's and a stop in Brookline sometime this week, definitely. (No wonder I never really get around to planning special outfits; I plan food instead.)

Do *all* Tim Powers books have lots of booze in them? I'm working on my third, and am rather impressed with the sustained alcohol levels of so many characters.
