Less than two hours until I leave work for the year, so of course I can't focus. The sun is out, and it's raining solidly (Oh, now it's stopped. briefly, I assume; it is MA, after all...), which is distracting, too, since I have errands in the Square this afternoon, and I'm wearing sandals today. So strange that it's in the 50s, in December. Convenient, though, since something near my right Achilles tendon seems to hurt when I wear regular shoes. Not that I needed some other strange ailment, really. I'm hoping I just bruised something-or-other and it will get better on its own.

I'm sure my inability to focus on work also wasn't helped by someone putting out a box of rather nice chocolates that were hechshered. With all the nonkosher stuff that's been floating through the office, I found myself eating far too many of them, to make up for what I missed, or some such faulty logic. At least I finally made real food last night, so I have reasonable leftovers, gingery chicken soup that might get gingery dumplings or egg drop, and turkey meatballs in tomato sauce over jasmine rice. And the latter is portable enough to bring over to eat while gaming, too. Hooray for last-minute plans, since otherwise I'd likely be sitting at home, reading and wanting more people to post post post!

There's a male cardinal sitting on a branch outside my office, extermely obvious in his plumage. He's just sitting there, far too impassive for a bird, except when mometarily distracted by frolicking squirrels.

".... infant, so tender and mild"
As many have already heard me say, this really does sound like part of a medieval recipe, not a religious song. "Take one childe, newly borne, and season with [smudged manuscript]. Baste frequently." Etc.
Have I mentioned that I am not a fan of carols? I'm not sure how much of this is due to extreme overkill everywhere at this time of year, but I just avoid them as much as possible. Unlike junior high, when I had to sing them in chorus. My mom told me how to sing them: frequently changing "the" to "not", stuff like that.

Enough. Must try to work. Really. Yes.
