Philly weekend, the distilled version
Sep. 22nd, 2003 12:16 pm- long drive down, compounded by the tail end of Isabel
- longer drive back, due to evil traffic backups, and the inability to find the Garden State Parkway when headed north on the NJ Turnpike
- small silver lining to heinous amounts of driving: seeing NY plate QU1CK1E
- saw college friends and their large number of offspring
- they go to a really nice shul, with friendly people
- stayed up far too late talking
- was fed yummy food
- got to go to a couple of talks, focused on the time of year; R"H is coming far too quickly
- Scrabble
- did I mention staying up far too late talking?
- party for an Israeli friend was a lot of fun
- post-revel at his parents' was even more so, in some ways
So between staying up late talking, and staying up late driving, and intense amounts of socializing... I'm a bit of a zombie today.
I'm glad I went though, despite missing all sorts of events (as reviewed on my friends page :-). I don't know the next time I'll see my Israeli friend, and I haven't visited the college friends in far too long (back when they only had four kids...).
I found myself wishing I were more in touch with people, wanting more contact with the far-flung people who matter to me. My college castle in the air idea of everyone living in the same town drifted through my brain again; there's a different quality of interaction when it's local and frequent, and more likely to be in person, no matter how able we are to keep in touch electronically these days.
