Shabbat food
Dec. 31st, 2010 03:45 pm- grape liquid, rolls
- fish chowder (actually dairy, with a touch of cayenne)
- roasted eggplant and red onion with salt, pepper, basil, and oregano (both dried herbs)
- roasted butternut squash and red onions with salt, cumin, and honey
- casserole (aka crustless quiche) with eggs, pepper jack and cheddar cheeses, and sauteed red onions, mushrooms, and flowering chives (can you tell I got half a bushel of red onions? :-)
- pickled green beans (originally, I'd thought to put them with cubed boiled rutabaga bits in mayo, for a not-potato salad, but ran out of oomph)
- not-pie: cranberries, walnuts, and boozy apples chopped up, sweetened with honey, and baked until friendly, with the option of vanilla ice cream
- fruit liqueurs, clementines
For those observing Shabbat: Shabbat shalom (and presumably, since it is observed, it won't be a quantum Sabbath).
For those of you observing Sylvester: party on, dudes! See you in 2011.
(Poor Tweety, never gets any respect.)
