Shabbat and motza'i Shabbat
Dec. 29th, 2002 01:11 amShabbat dinner menu: challah rolls (multigrain, with flaxseed), grape juice, potato-leek soup, clementine chicken with rice and pine nuts, green salad (red leaf lettuce, watercress, halved grape tomatoes, scallions, pine nuts, with a garlic balsamic vinaigrette).
And interesting conversation, long after the food had been eaten, a wide variety of topics. A good evening.
I was bitten a bit by a straightening bug over Shabbat. I ended up putting books away. It felt strange to do so much tasklike stuff, but I decided putting books away is not a problem for me. I suspect no one else would even notice the difference, though I can. I still want to figure out where to put some more bookshelves, so I can stop double-shelving so many books. Wouldn't hurt to weed a few out, either, ones that I've read but don't need to own.
I got to sneak a peak at the upcoming premiere edition of other magazine, and it looks great.
After Shabbat, managed a stop at the gym again, for more time on an elliptical cross trainer, this time with company, so I didn't have to read junky mags. Also time in the hot tub. All-women's gym, good.
I attempted to party-hop, but inability to find the first party foiled that plan. Still, got to see a lovely Cambridge apartment (K'nex structure taller than me! Interesting books on the shelves (including Silver Lady and the Fortyish Man)! Watching friends eat meat!). Ended up meeting some new people, talking with people I haven't seen in a while, which was nice, also giving head skritches that seemed to be much appreciated.
[1950 addendum: How could I forget the Pooh Tree along the sidewalk? A covered over tree-stump chair, with a filing system and candy canes inside (Pooh's office?), almost a nest to crawl into, with a weather vane on top.]
