Hanuka 6 (the patriotic night)
Dec. 5th, 2002 01:31 pmAfter work, out to Framingham to meet the parents for dinner. I was pleased I didn't have difficulties starting on hills (Route 9 has more hills than I'd remembered). Mmm, shawarma. And a Hanuka present: a cool box made of handmade paper. The top and the bottom are square, but rotated 45 degrees from one another, so the sides are angled triangles rather than vertical rectangles. Apparently it's quite strong, but I should avoid getting it wet. Good to see the parents. I've been delinquent... After dinner we shared what turned out to be a Jelly-less Non-Donut, which was completely unsatisfactory. No jelly, no taste, bits of powdered sugar making a mess. Ugh. I may have to go to Donuts with a Difference to make up for it (No, I don't feel like using paragraphs, why do you ask?). Home to light the menorah, and ended up choosing red and blue candles, with a white shamash. It looked pretty, a hint of the flag without being too obvious. I watched the candles burn; there must be some very specific drafts, since certain candles burned down far faster than others (and did not live up to the advertised "dripless candles" either).
