Happy Birthday to me!
Oct. 31st, 2002 10:24 amWell, it was a couple of weeks ago, actually.
But the department fall birthday party was this morning, so I now have been sung "Happy Birthday" again (rather anaemically), and partaken of the food. I was pleased and touched to find that one cow-orker had gone to a kosher bakery to get me a cinnamon croissant, so I'd have some baked good to eat (note: Cheryl Ann's cinnamon croissant are very nice, but very much *not* croissant).
Whoever circulated the cards had not left enough time, so I got the last fe w people to sign mine. I rather startled Dennis, since he wasn't expecting to see me with a sticker on my forehead [1] (a gravestone marked R.I.P. with Really Impressive Performance below. I managed to resist the skull and crossbones one that said Good to the Bone!...). Another pleasant surprise: one of the people who retired this summer came back for the party. And the card turned out to be a funny one, rather than the sappy cards I've gotten some years.
Not as wonderful as my real birthday, but definit ely pleasant. And I may get to meet Elvis today, too!
Oh, and the other good thing today: a call from Z, still in the hospital with her son, but possibly getting out tomorrow. It was good to hear her voice.
[1] Where else would one put a sticker? That's where the mark of the banana cult always went...
[Later. QOTD: "It's hard to eat a croissant when you feel like a pickle."]
