Phrase of the evening
Oct. 18th, 2002 10:10 amLast night's was: "in the process of becoming un-pregnant"
I got to say this at potluck last night, in the brief time I was there.
Why was it brief? Well, unlike the last two nights, no cow orker needed a ride to her car (in the rain, or locked at the shop). I wish it would've been. Instead, I got a call from Z, asking me to come wait for her Peapod grocery delivery while they were rushing their son to the emergency room.
Got a phone call around midnight: they made it home, presumably safe and sound. And I now know that the kid is having surgery next month to put in a port, so he can get infusions 3x/week, which should bring him to "moderate hemophiliac" status. Which will hopefully mean fewer trips to the emergency room. He's had a lot, which is why the port is being put in so young (he'll be 10 months then, and at 9 months is already pulling himself to standing...).
It was her birthday yesterday, too.
That, plus some sucky work stuff, plus friends being laid off. I'm ready for this week to end.
