Random stuff from last night
Sep. 11th, 2002 09:16 amSeen in the parking lot at Trader Joe's: 4 rows of 8 troll dolls glued on the roof of a car. All different color hair, all of them that pot-bellied impish look, though in a couple of different sizes.
Great new innovation in ketchup: they now make plastic squeeze bottles that are designed to sit "upside down," so you don't have to wait to blorp your ketchup.
New vegan prepared food: lemon pepper tofu with mango chipotle suace, by tofu2go. They have a couple of different flavor variations of this, as well as some dessert pudding things, all designed, it seems, to make it easy to get soy in your diet without fussing. The tofu had a baked texture, and ok flavor, while the sauce was really nice. It would've been easier had the sauce not needed to be poured into something else first (the tofu is already in triangles). Not cheap, but I'd try their stuff again, especially if I were in a rush.
I made a couple of trays of roasted veggies yesterday on time bake, and came home to lots of rosemary goodness. I'd roasted beets along with carrots, parsnips, and onions, and of course they turned everything else interesting shades of magenta. I wonder if I could dye a t-shirt that color? What mordant would I need?
