A couple of minutes ago, I noticed the sunlight suddenly lessening. I look outside, and there are clouds, real clouds, not haze. Then the wind starts blowing through the trees (mostly I can see it, but sometimes I can hear it, too). And the sky darkens as the clouds blow over, moving inexorably across the sky. It feels rather like I imagine people in Independence Day felt like as the alien ships came over the cities, darkening everything. The underside of this cloud layer is puffy, all sorts of detail visible, a study in shades of grey, with varying brightness. Sort of the inverse of the top of cloud layer seen when flying, since it's always sunny then. Gorgeous and ominous, and happy for me... the heat will soon break.
Wow.
[update 4:17
The cloud layer has smoothed out a minute or two ago, and the few drops of rain have been overtaken by a downpour, and there's been at least one round of lightning and thunder. Amazing spectacle.]
