Veggies, week 4
Jul. 2nd, 2002 05:55 pmThis week's bounty includes:
a bunch of garlic scapes
a head of red leaf lettuce
a head of green leaf lettuce
a head of another kind of lettuce
a big bunch of mustard greens
half a dozen cute tiny purple-topped turnips
a small head of cauliflower
a bunch of bok choy
Noticeably absent: any kale.

Date: 2002-07-02 07:55 pm (UTC)Approximately, that is.
It's the above ground shoot of the garlic, which is more solid than a thin scallion, rather curlier, and with a sort of slight bulbous bit somewhere on its length. It's a lighter garlic flavor, which is nice.

Date: 2002-07-03 06:07 am (UTC)(a) love kale, and thought I was bemoaning the lack thereof, and sought to remedy that?
If so, just for the record, kale is ok, but I haven't yet figured out what to do with it that I would like immensely, so any recipes would be most appreciated (or just descriptions, with kale prep notes...)
(b) appreciate my relief at the lack of kale (a break from the three previous weeks), and feel that kale-appreciation has limits?
Either way, it's prolly easier for me to kidnap you for dinner sometime (that kosher thing again)... However, due to my non-air-conditioned apartment :-(, that sometime would be unlikely to be *this* week.
