It's the season of the ongoing treasure hunt, hearing more birds chirp dominance or attraction, seeing the snowdrops push through the snow, then the snow melting, followed by the first crocuses, the first daffodils, the first forsythia, the first magnolia in bloom (all of which I've seen already, and more!). It also shows how small microclimates can be, with a white magnolia fully in bloom in a sunny spot next to the hospital (I assume the ground is warmer for being close to a building?), while another one in someone's yard a couple of blocks away is barely showing buds. Willows are still in winter mode in one place, withies already yellow-green in another, and with early leaves in a third. It's fascinating.
