No turkey sighting, but I did see a V of geese flying so close to the water that they went through one of the arches of Longfellow Bridge.

They were putting in trees in some of the little spaces left near the revised Charles/MGH station. I'm so glad they opted for greenery over more stone or brick.

Also, there's construction on the pedestrian overpass to the Hatch Shell nearest Charles/MGH. Not sure what they're doing.

I finally made it to the post office. I now own many postcard stamps. I also got to hear about the one NY-based Sox fan. (Post offices can be interesting.)

That broken fire door at Arlington station? Still unfixed.

I never noticed the huntin' and fishin' store in Porter Square before (the main store is a mass of fishing poles in front, with their affiliated stuff, like boats and such, and a mass of rifles in the back). It looked promising enough for one of the camping things I needed, which the basement camping section (lights flipped on as the sales guy took me downstairs) did have. Plus, cheaper than the camping chain stores. Plus, wonderfully creaky old wooden floors.

I now know that the Stellabella Toys in Porter Square closes two hours before the mother store in Inman. (Read: I arrived ten minutes too late. *sigh*)

I got home too tired and hungry to figure out anything for dinner. So I went to Rubin's, and ate a steak. It was expensive, and totally worth it, especially since they make really nice vegetables alongside. Mmmmm..... Of course, it was even better because I had someone to talk with while I ate, so I didn't just inhale it without proper attention, especially after the large party at the next table gave it such looks of respect :-).

Trader Joe's was out of the kosher ground turkey that isn't completely lean. I couldn't face using the lean (read: flavorless) stuff again, so reworked what I'm making for Shabbat (theoretically.... none of the prep has actually started or anything). On the plus side, they finally had slices of crystallized ginger again. And on the double-plus side, I ran into a not-this-side-of-the-river person there, with enough time to catch up a bit in between the food bits of conversation.

And now, to start the challah.
(*stated confidently, in the hopes it will inspire actual getting up and flinging of flour and yeast together*)

(*still waiting*)
