* One of two major (dusk to dusk) fast days on the Jewish calendar (the other is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement), which commemorates the destruction of the both Temples (on the Temple Mount, remnant of the Second is the Western Wall), as well as many other massacres and pogroms, the most recognizable of which is the expulsion from Spain in 1492. This year, Tisha B'Av starts Saturday night.
