Week 5
- 1.75 pounds of small purple/red/yellow (Yukon gold) potatoes
- a head of lettuce
- four pounds of summer squash/zucchini/cucumbers
- a head of garlic (with greens, but they're apparently inedible, unlike scapes)
- a small head of green/Savoy cabbage
- five stalks of snapdragons (in pretty colors)
- five sprigs of basil
- three sprigs of parsley
- a pound of small carrots
- a bunch (four) of medium Walla Walla onions with greens
There's pick your own beans (green and yellow), peas, and herbs at the farm. Not that I think I'll be out there again this month.
The newsletter also mentions deals for buying in bulk, such as cukes, zukes, corn, or carrots, for pickling/freezing/juicing. The only price mentioned, however, is for cukes: $15 for 20 pounds, which would be delivered to Central Sq. with the usual farm share. Any cuke-aholics out there? pickle maniacs?
There's a new art chair in Cambridge, a few blocks past Whole Wallet on Putnam St., outbound from Harvard. Unlike most of the rest of them, this one isn't very useful for weary passersby: a slatted seat (no legs) is atop a six-foot stump. Good for passing people on stilts, maybe.
