Yesterday I took a fabric sling class with firefly dance. There was a mixup about scheduling, so we started late, but there were only two of us, so I went up at least as many times as the last class. Read more... )

I walked to the T at Harvard, getting there at 8:30. I know it's about the worst time for commuting, but I knew something was up when I saw people more than six deep on the platform. I thought about walking to work, but I'd just walked in the opposite direction from work to get to the T. I also thought about going out to Alewife, but was sure I'd miss the train as I went out. It wouldn't be too bad, right?

Wrong. The trains were infrequent, and packed. I couldn't get on the first three that came by. Frustration, all around. To be fair, there were frequent announcements that the trains were delayed in both directions due to an earlier disabled train, with further announcements telling where the inbound and outbound trains were. The most annoying part was how the train announcers were almost yelling at people, and saying there was another train 'right behind'. Which we all knew was false, since the station announcements had already told us that the next train was three stops away.

Finally, I managed to squeeze onto the fourth train, over half an hour after getting to the station. Of course, it was hard just to find a comfortable stance, sardines that we were. I felt badly for the people waiting at Central, the platform there also full.

It's a nice day; I should've walked.
