December story reading
Dec. 16th, 2003 10:41 amThis month's story reading featured a number of new pieces: chapter 6 in Majes' (sf) novel (still no repeating characters, but there are rumors about chapter 7...), a poem Queue wrote, and a Hannuka story Scholargipsy wrote yesterday (this still astonishes me), sad yet strong. It's so exciting to hear new pieces, written by friends. Perhaps someday I will have inspiration for something worth reading aloud.
There were also pieces of published works: Ruth read " How Erg the Self-inducting Slew a Paleface", from Stanislaw Lem's Mortal Engines, a robotic fairy tale. I read excerpts from Bill Bryson's Down Under (featuring descriptions of cricket and the desert, mostly), and the first night's story in the Animated Hannukah book, a very silly thing.
And many snacks were consumed.
