The musical neighbor has started again: I had accordion music a couple of times over the weekend. S/He is quite good, and it's not unending polka music, either.

I wish I hadn't been in a low mood yesterday afternoon. It was the kind where I wasn't sure if going out to events-with-people would pick me up, or just have me cranky in a group, which is far worse than being cranky alone. So I defaulted to staying home, missing a couple of different things, any one of which would've likely been excellent. Feh.

I hadn't realized that Red Bones' bike valet parking is for anyone, patron of Red Bones or not (Globe article). This could be very useful, actually, since I'm rather paranoid about leaving my bike locked up outside anywhere.

This past weekend there was apparently lots of interesting art stuff happening in NYC (NYT article; registration usually necessary), including a live chess game using the grid of Manhattan streets and cell phones to alert the pieces when the players moved a piece; a walking tour varied based on emotional states; and another based on algorithms.

[1230 addendum: The lettuce in the office made it through the weekend just fine. I'm pleased, since this means it's likely not going to be an issue any weekend, as long as I remember to water them on Fridays.]

Last Thursday night I saw Veronika Vavoom, Vulcanologist (Olga Humphrey) at the Boston Playwrights' Theatre. I particularly wanted to go because a friend of mine, Jason Slavick, directed it.

I enjoyed it very much. details )
