Sushi quest

At Bread & Circus getting a few last items for my cooking this afternoon, I decided to treat myself with a couple of pieces of sushi (they have excellent sushi at the Mem Drive location). I walk over, and there's a woman with two cute young kids, a boy, perhaps 5, and a girl, perhaps 4. Not sure if the woman is the mom of one or both, or a babysitter, or an aunt...

The girl keeps saying she wants avocado ("Avocado. Avocado. Avocado."), while the boy is interested in salmon. The adult is a bit leery of this, suggests the sushi with cooked salmon. The boy says no. Why? "Raw salmon tastes better."
So the woman says he can have some salmon sushi, but not much. And he should pick out a container that has some avocado, for the girl.
Of course, he picks out a rather big container of all salmon sushi and maki rolls.
The girl asks what the pink is, and the woman tells her it's raw salmon. Now she wants some too. The woman doesn't want them to have that much raw fish salmon. "Maybe your father can have some when he gets home."
The boy suggests that she share it with them, instead. Or he can eat it. No, he's not allowed to eat that much raw fish. Why? "Because, well.... I don't want to say why." It's just not allowed.
(I'm still carefully considering my fishly options...).
They end up getting the big container of the salmon sushi and maki.

I'm left wondering why she brought them over and offered them sushi if she's so uncomfortable with it....

Today's (apparently obligatory) food entry

I seem to be more-than-usually food focussed this week...

Last night I made flatbreads for potluck. One with za'atar and sumak, the other with lavender, rosemary, and sea salt. Both were happily consumed.
