Winter farm share, distribution 4 of 11
Dec. 14th, 2022 06:13 pm- three pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes (from Maple Row Organic in Ashfield, MA)
- three pounds of Murasaki (white-flesh) sweet potatoes
- three pounds of carrots
- two pounds of purple-top turnips
- a small head of cabbage (think grapefruit size)
- six small yellow onions
- three small heads of garlic
- a big bag of kale
- a big bag of spinach
First thoughts: add the spinach to mac & cheese, and/or some kind of Impossible pot pie; lots of garlicky carrot pickles; kale salad with tahini-lemon dressing; sauted root veggies with cabbage.
I'm uninspired by the purple-top turnips (and I wasn't alone; there were a lot of them in the swap box, which is why I kept mine): suggestions/recipes welcome. (Discussion at the pickup has me thinking they might be good mixed with carrots in some kind of latke-type thing, or maybe roasted and added to the aforementioned pot pie?)
No help, just thoughts:

Date: 2022-12-16 04:11 am (UTC)Armored turnips (yes really) are similar to potatoes au gratin but with turnips. Here's one recipe; there were a bunch of others in my search results: https://thestirringspoon.com/armored-turnips/ .
I sometimes use turnips when roasting mixed veggies.

Date: 2022-12-16 04:26 am (UTC)I have a lot of root veggies; I could toss some in with the rest and call it good enough, definitely.
