So much going on, it's been hard to keep up.

Friday I experimented for Shabbat food, trying something that made sense in my head to see how it would come out: turkey thighs roasted with onions, carrots, potatoes, apples, olive oil, cider vinegar, and some thyme over the top. yum.

Saturday included a stop at the Vernon Street Open Studios with friends. There was a lot of cool art, much of which I'm sure I'm not remembering: the artist who had lots of arrow pictures, and one beautiful tiny black and white landscape; the artist who made trails of connected multicolored dots using some sort of medium Cthulhia seemed intrigued by; the artist with collages that included brightly colored stickers, and sometimes packaging from asian snack foods. Also there was lots of bird-themed stuff, including paintings and some pottery that Hrafn liked. Beautiful landscapes, and b+w photos of interesting people. There were the bright orange SUV parking violations. Ooh, and there was a huge wooden walrus that Cthulhia liked (I've never seen anyone use licorice to do a walrus imitation before!). Another artist had some interesting blue paintings that reminded me of Cthulhia's blue palette, which was cool.

Sunday, headed down to the Arboretum for Lilac Sunday. Luckily decided to picnic first, while watching Morris dancers (I hadn't known there were so many groups! And yes, I think the ones with swords/staves more interesting than the handkerchief or floral arch ones.) Off to geocache, which included a bit more rock-climbing than I'd realized was available at the Arboretum. (I felt I could use my hand for it. Hooray.). I hadn't realized how many kinds of lilacs there are, either. Pretty flowers, and pretty names. Off to try to cross the Zakim Bridge, but projected waits of up to 3 hours in the drizzle/rain defeated that intent.

Yesterday felt fuller than full. In the morning, yet another editorial session (no, I refuse to gripe here), followed by a department lunch for 2 retiring cow orkers. Dash home to get to the doctor appointment.

I walked to BU (note to self: taking walks on Tuesday afternoon in my neighborhood is not only healthy, but can result in trash-picking finds...) to meet Tigerbright and AutographedCat for dinner. Along the way, I saw a flock of white geese by the river, with their creamy yellow and smoky grey goslings - so cute. And some Japanese maples that were green, not red, which made it easy to notice the beautful texture that leaf shape gave the tree. I also noticed a car that changed color depending on the reflection angle of the sun. What color do you describe it as for the official documents that ask for it? After we met, it was a comedy of misses trying to meet Browngirl. Finally we went downtown for sushi before the play.

Copenhagen was excellent. There was an impressive set. The floor of the stage had a large circle with lines of latitude, while the longitude lines weren't right, and a long triangle piercing it from the entrance at the back of the stage. The lighting was such that just the triangle could be lit, which was cool. There were 2 rows of seats around the back of the stage, carefully designed to imply a jury box of some sort. I thought it cool that that meant some of the audience was incorporated into the set, as it were. The play is about Heisenberg's visit from Germany to his old mentor Bohr in Denmark, in 1941, and the development of the atomic bomb, and all sorts of intellectual and moral questions arising from it. Beautiful script, reminding me a little bit of Arcadia, though a bit more intellectually dense, to me. There were ideas of intellectual rigor, of responsibility for one's creations, whether the reasons for actions/inactions matter, etc. Totally amazing. And I was exhausted by the end of it, finding myself yawning despite my interest.

This morning I saw the first chipmunk of the season. I see them so rarely these days, while there are squirrels everywhere. Busy day at work, and I have so many things to do tonight - why am I sitting here typing?!
