[Asylum] Data
Feb. 13th, 2013 02:07 pmOne of the things I do as part of my volunteer shift at the Asylum is enter people's data, including an emergency contact person, just in case (to the best of my knowledge, we've never needed to use this, and I hope we never do). In addition to their name and phone/email, there's a line to write in their relationship to the person filling out the paperwork, and it fascinates me this window into people's lives. Sometimes it means I know their orientation (which is really odd, to know that absent all sorts of other information first). Sometimes it has me wondering how long a relationship will last; listing a parent, spouse, or sibling seems more likely to stay relevant than a current dating partner, though of course, they can become spouses :-). And sometimes, I just have to laugh in delight at the choice of descriptor. My favorites so far: "awesome friend" and "co-conspirator"!
