Realized: I really dislike when a browser or document completely fills my computer screen. Despite knowing how to get to everything else that's there, it's much more calming for me to have a visual border of whatever background is available. I'm not sure why this might be, though.

PSA for Cambridge-area drivers: the intersection of Memorial Drive and JFK Street had new no-left-turn-ever signs (as of last Thursday), in all directions. (I understand why they did it, but talk about no way to recover if you're a lost tourist....)

The tree next to Harvard's Science Center that had a Pooh house in the base was cut down. Interestingly, the stump has been given a shingled roof, and Pooh's house is still there.

Last week, I was surprised by the gift of a single red-yellow rose. I posted that to FB, without reference to who gave me the gift (nor whether it was a token of attraction, which in this case, it wasn't), and a dozen people 'liked' that status. I don't know whether those who liked it assumed that this was an indication of romance. What has struck me as interesting is that every single one of them is female, though my friends there are reasonably close to evenly split along gender lines. I don't know whether that is just a self-selecting group without greater meaning, or on average, females are more likely to appreciate floral tokens.
(I have been given flowers before, albeit infrequently; I don't value them more than other tokens of affection/friendship, and perhaps less than ones that show particular thought or knowledge of me.)

Given:
watermelon + feta = yum
and
honeydew + watermelon = yum
does it follow that
honeydew + feta = yum?

Sunday was a four-bed day: my bed (slept in), a former denizen's box spring (single-handedly taken out to the trash), one friend's new-to-her trundle bed (disassembled at previous owner's house, brought to sojourn at my house until the fall), and another friend's mattress (heaved upstairs to a new bedroom in the same house as I kept the baby out of the way). It took a long time to cool off enough for a shower....

And I am so ready for the weather to break (supposedly, in two days it'll briefly be under 90 F during the day!).
