Adventures in urban living
Mar. 30th, 2012 06:35 pmI was wearing my peace shirt today, and a passing guy commented on the Hebrew. Somehow this became an actual conversation as we stood on a street corner. I don't know his name, but I do know he's Ashkenazi (he said that, not Jewish), studied at a yeshiva in Tell Aviv, enjoys reading Jabotinsky over more modern writings, and has a large family that is split over the Iran question. I wasn't sure which Iran question that would be; it felt a bit odd that a relative stranger asked my opinion on "the Iran question" without any qualifiers, assuming I'd know he meant the question of Iran getting nuclear weapons. Am I politically naive to have had to ask what he meant?
As a first face-to-face conversation in two days, it was enjoyable, though.
