Artisan's Asylum new space
Dec. 4th, 2011 11:31 amYesterday afternoon Artisan's Asylum had an open house in honor of the grand opening of their new space (less than a mile from my house :-). I'd been in the space before, a couple of months ago when one of the burning trucks ended up moving load out there (which was great for me); it's totally changed, and in impressive ways: painted, more lights, rental spaces set up with low (4 foot) walls, many of them not only rented out, but inhabited, with cool things to look at (a suspended dinosaur with wings that move, SCUL in one corner, boats in process, jewelry, a suspended branch lit with white lights and plants suspended from it, sound and light installations, etc etc etc).
I was really glad to see tons of people checking it out; I hope they sold lots of classes and passes and such. I hadn't realized just how many people I know would be there, so it ended up being an incredibly social afternoon, an afternoon party with lots of space and easy to hear what people said.
They have a lot going on; I should see whether there's interest in me teaching a crocheting in the round class :-).
