[local eating] Winter share (2 of 4)
Nov. 18th, 2011 03:06 pm- three pounds of potatoes (I didn't have the patience to get small ones, especially with a line behind me, so grabbed a bunch of bigger ones)
- half a pound of red radishes
- five beets (I chose large ones, which ended up meaning golden beets)
- four parsnips (again, choosing large ones)
- a honey nut squash (think mini butternut squash; just one seemed a bit odd, given the size and the season)
- three (rather muddy) leeks
- a celeriac
- ten baby bok choy (not all very small at all)
- a bunch of cilantro (given away on site)
I was expecting some sweet potatoes or perhaps some Brussels sprouts, given the season, but this is pretty good. The challenging part is the bok choy, since for some reason I can't think of anything to do with it other than saute/stir fry it, and it doesn't seem like the kind of thing I can freeze for later. The radishes can go directly into fridge pickles with some others from earlier in the season, so that leaves root vegetables, pretty much, which is never a problem. :-)
