[local eating] Farm share, weeks 13 and 14
Sep. 8th, 2011 12:43 am- a bunch of cilantro (given away on site)
- a head of celery (given to friends, with green beans and carrots from another farm share in return)
- a third of a pound of salad mix
- two yellow onions
- a bunch of collards (or curly green kale, but I wanted collards)
- a buttercup squash
- a large head of Napa cabbage
- three hot peppers (I chose a poblano and two smaller others)
- a half pound of sweet peppers (I chose a mix of baby bells and long red ones)
- three pounds of large green bell peppers
- two pounds of tomatoes (I included two yellow ones that seem almost pleated)
- a bunch of edamame
- six ears of corn
First thoughts: green salad with corn and tomatoes, plus feta; a new batch of sauerkraut with carrots (especially if I get purple cabbage to mix with the Napa); baked squash with sauteed hot peppers and onions.
And last week, this is what I missed:
- a head of cabbage
- a pound of broccoli
- one and a half pounds of tomatoes
- eight ears of corn
- a pound of carrots
- three pounds of peppers (red and yellow) or eggplant
- two hot peppers
- a head of endive
- two heads of lettuce (butter or red leaf)
- two fennel
