Garment District loot
Jul. 25th, 2011 09:36 pmMonths ago I got 3 $20 Groupons for the Garment District. The first two I used during one of their half-off-everything sales (I keep thinking that my thrifty grandmothers would be proud, having spent $20 for $80 worth of (lightly) used clothes. I had one more that expired yesterday (I believe that according to state law, it would have reverted to the sale price, essentially becoming a gift certificate, but I'm cheap, so I didn't want that to happen). So yesterday I went over, a new pair of bamboo socks
a new pair of socks with cute frogs on them
a beautifully embroidered cloth napkin
three striped placemats
a large fringed green scarf with black swirls on it
a red knit long-sleeved top
a maroon kurta (no pyjama to go with it)
a sea-themed blue cotton wrap skirt
almost-black purple drawstring pants, striped with lighter purple (with pocketses!)
a long robe/coat sort of garment in leopard print, that buttons in front (and, oddly, has a pocket on the right, but not the left)
Amazingly, everything that needed to fit was from dollar a pound and I hadn't tried anything on until I got home, but it all fit. The kurta is a bit large, but whatever. Most of this will end up as Burning Man clothing, and I think I could line the leopard-print thing enough to be a night coat there, despite the sleeves being too short for me (So far, only one year was it actually cold at night, to me, at least.), perhaps adding some lights.
