  • a pound and a half of large pickling cucumbers
  • six ears of corn
  • two heads of lettuce (red leaf all the way for me)
  • two eggplants (I got the "regular" Nadia kind)
  • a pound and a half of potatoes
  • a bunch of parsley
  • a head of broccoli
  • a pound of rainbow carrots
  • a pound of tomatillos (no clue what to do with them; suggestions welcome)
  • two pounds of summer squash
  • a pound of green peppers
  • a pound of green beans

I know I shouldn't complain with such bounty, but I was hoping for some alliums as well. Otherwise, it's lovely (modulo lack of tomatoes, of course).

Raw tomatillos are great in salsa. They're nifty--like a cross between a tomato and an apple.

I've made this tomatillo salsa (http://frogfood.peace.net/index.php/2007/10/05/salsa-verde-tomatillo-salsa/) with good results. You can scale it to your quantity.

That sounds quite nice, though I'd sub parsley for the to-me-inedible fresh cilantro. Thank you.

Thinking of them as a cross like that makes them more approachable. Thanks.
