I'm looking to make a graph of some data in a spreadsheet. Not a coordinate plane sort of graph, a bar graph or something similar. I thought I'd seen this somewhere in Excel previously, but the version I've got (12.1.5, Office 2008 for the Mac) is hiding it extremely well if so. There's another thing, Grapher, but that lets me do coordinate planes and other displays of functions, whereas I want to display discrete data.

Any suggestions?

Question answered. Many thanks.

I don't work with Macs, but it's been in the Insert menu in the versions of Excel that I've used.

I don't have Office 2008 handy, but there should be a "Chart" option somewhere on the menus that will let you do this; one of the first steps in the dialog box sequence asks what style (bar/column/line/pie/scatter etc.) you want.

Thank you.

There is a 'chart' option in the Insert menu. My blinkered brain didn't connect chart with graph until you commented.

Yeah. I wish "guess the magic word" had stayed where it belongs, in text adventures, and not found its way into "productivity" software....

It's not the worst word I could imagine for this, at least. And I suppose they wanted to keep it distinct from their 'Grapher' (add-on? extra? feature? thingie?) which is all about 2-D and 3-D graphs...
