Boston-centric
Feb. 5th, 2009 06:47 pmThe Out of Town News stand in Harvard Square is under new management as of last Sunday, which is much better than it closing. I hope the new owners are able to make a go of it, especially since it's now locally owned.
There won't be the regular flower show this spring (first time in 138 years), but there will be a smaller event, Blooms!, March 12-15 in the financial district, and it will be free.
The commuter rail on-time rates are slipping. Yeah, weather and all, but having all 40 engines more than 15 years old, and more than half of them from the 70s through 1981, when the expected life is 25 years... not good. Not that I have any brilliant ideas of how to afford new ones.
Newton residents: February 7-8 and March 7-8 there's free admission to the Newton History Museum ($5 for the rest of us).
The Mass Cultural Council has a blog, ArtSake, which is how I found the site of Adrienne Sloane. Check out her portfolio (all three pages) - fabulous knit pieces in yarn or wire.

Date: 2009-02-06 03:26 am (UTC)I didn't notice this, distracted by how the line I use sometimes has the worst on-time record currently, though I know that that doesn't mean much, given how they added minutes to the Worcester schedule so it wouldn't be late all the time, rather than making the trains stick to the original schedule.
