The Jerusalem hotel we stayed in the night before the ride had this sign on my floor.

temporal inconvenience

Does this mean I can say I've stayed in a TARDIS hotel? (A self-changing one, at that. Grow your own architecture!)

That's the most awesome translation ever.

As I recall, farwing had some temporal road work near her house, no translation involved.

I know! And the guy who saw me taking the picture seemed confused why I'd bother, but how could I pass this up?

I believe you're right, but was the road resurfacing itself?

The room I shared was apparently not quite done remodeling itself, since it had a space for a mini-fridge it hadn't yet generated, and the phone system had the front desk insisting we were staying in a different room entirely.

I love how Lev's peeking over your shoulder in your icon!

So was the Hebrew at least correct?

My Hebrew's not perfect; some of the vocabulary isn't familiar to me. To the best of my knowledge, it's fine.

(The signs I didn't get a picture of were highways named after Menachim Begin, which headed north/south in Jerusalem. Hence, English signs with "Begin North" and "Begin South." Perfect translation, yet... first thoughts are not what was intended.)

I'd be all "When did roadsigns get so pushy about what I should do?"

The mistranslation is sort of understandable, if humorous.

The Hebrew says "Ee hanochut hazmanit." "Zmanit" is usually translated as temporary, though it could also be read as "time related," thus "temporal."

Oh, I know the translation is somewhat understandable. It still made me giggle every time I went by.

Hee!

I've been thinking there should be picofiction to go with the photo.
