Ruth's Kitchen reopened
Jan. 27th, 2008 09:19 pmWithout Ruth, who has moved to Connecticut. It's now being run by Edna, a local kosher caterer, and the menu is a bit different. A lot of the menu is the same, but so far, it seems that they're not doing the Chinese menu, and the Peking raviolis I adored are a thing of the past. On the other hand, there are a few new Persian dishes, since that's Edna's speciality, including a couple of rice dishes, chicken kabob, and two beef dishes (khoresh sabzi (beef, lemon sauce, spinach, red beans) and khoresh bademjan (beef, lemon sauce, eggplant, yellow split peas, tomato sauce)). I tried one of the rice dishes (with carrots, cranberries, pistachios, and some kind of candied peel), and a soup that was similar to the khoresh sabzi. I liked them both, and it's always exciting to have new kosher options.
Side note: the cases seem a bit larger, and jut into the room more than the previous ones, so it feels a bit more crowded by comparison. Of course, most people are getting stuff to take out, so it doesn't affect most of the clientele.
Tapuz, I forgot to ask about MSG...
