Yom Kippur tonight
Sep. 21st, 2007 11:50 amAnd I haven't thought nearly enough about the past year, what I have changed for the better, what has changed for the worse, not to mention all those perennial bad habits (lashon ha-ra most of all, plus sloth, not enough of the right kinds of self-care, and so on). It doesn't help that Sukkot follows on the heels of the fast day, so I've gotten distracted by all the details for that holiday (getting the sukkah up, the annual debate about decorations (some year I really will), acquiring the lulav and etrog, shopping and cooking and planning meals). I should be used to it by now, but somehow the timing gets me every year.
So, I know that this is not the optimal way, but... if I have hurt you this year, with my words or my actions, or through lack of action, please forgive me. If you can't forgive me yet, please let me know what I can do to make amends. (The LJ email works, if you want to contact me directly.)
For those fasting tonight, have an easy and meaningful fast. May this be the beginning of a year of life, of health, of happiness, and of tikkun olam.
