I was stopped at the intersection of Cambridge St. and Harvard Ave. in Allston last night. And on my right, someone had pushed dozens of styrofoam cups into the chain link fence, spelling out YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
*grin*

There's a makeshift memorial there to a woman who (I believe) was killed at that intersection. The cup-message is part of that memorial.

I'd seen the memorial before (well, I assumed it was a memorial, since it looked like so many others I've seen on the roads and highways (it can be very sobering seeing them so frequently)), but the message wasn't there last time I was by. Do you know when it was put up?

(To me, it seems an odd sort of sentiment for a memorial. Obviously, not a completely shared opinion.)

The memorial itself went up a couple of months ago. The cup message went up last week or so, I believe (I pass the memorial twice a day on the bus, but I don't always pay attention).

I find I'm fascinated by cup art and messages and the like on bridges and the side of the road. It seems to be a mostly New England thing somehow and I find them fascinating.

They must have chain link fences and styrofoam cups elsewhere. I wonder why it's more a New England thing.
