Morning, commute
Mar. 6th, 2007 11:45 amThis morning started with grrrr and brrrr.
Grrrr because my across-the-hall neighbors' alarm woke me up about 5:15, hours before I would've otherwise gotten up, and stayed on, and on, and on, beeping annoyingly. It didn't matter where I was in my apartment, I could hear it. Apparently the neighbors are away. *sigh* I get cranky when underslept, and particularly so when it could've been avoided. (This is not the first time it's happened, either. Email has been sent.)
Brrrr because, well, cold. Very cold. Single-digit (F) cold, with wind chills far below that. So, leggings, workboots, scarf, mittens, and two hats. Except for my face and my legs (thighs, really, which I find rather strange), I was comfortable, even too hot. The coldest part of the walk was along Storrow, which had more wind than the bridge (all those cars zooming by), and no sunlight to mitigate.
On the plus side, the river was amazingly beautiful today, with huge pieces of pale ice forming a random mosaic in and on the dark water. I had to stop to look a couple of times. And the annoyances of the morning had become insignificant after a long walk.
