Next week, back to Wednesdays, thank goodness. Small box, some fruit.

  • a smallish bunch of spinach
  • a bag of green beans
  • five zucchinis
  • a small head of cauliflower
  • two stalks of broccoli
  • three heads of garlic
  • eight medium yams (three pounds?)
  • a bunch of scallions
  • two navel oranges

And a dozen eggs. None of the onions I assumed I'd get, so didn't buy. Argh! I'm almost out of onions! I didn't want to have to implement onion rationing! (OK, after finishing the Shabbat cooking, I'm totally out of onions, so onion rationing isn't an issue :-) On the plus side, lots of green stuff, which is good.

  • grape product, wheat product
  • mezze: hummus, a variety of olives, roasted garlic
  • spicy turkey meatloaf
  • baked sweet potato slices
  • roasted beets
  • caramelized alliums: red onions, leeks, and shallots
  • green salad
  • fruit salad
  • rugelach from Angel's (I couldn't resist: I lived within smell range of that place for a year)

For lunch, leftovers, plus turkey thighs baked over whole-wheat bread bits, onion, dried woodear (it's an experiment), walnuts, currants, and sage.

I walked home from the T in my T-shirt (heh), wishing I had sandals on, and saw a dandelion blooming. It pleasant, all right, but it's disturbing. This is not normal for January in Boston! Possibly even more disturbing was that the people I said that to today all reacted the same way: "Yeah, but this weather is nice." That is not the point! Earth's cycles not to be messed with lightly.
