Weighty stuff this week.
  • two winter squashes (I got butternut and buttercup.)
  • a head of green cabbage
  • two sweet potatoes
  • a bunch of Hakurei turnips or red radishes, with greens (I chose the former.)
  • six sweet peppers (bells and longer ones, a mix of flame colors; I got a lot of long red ones, and at least one orange one.)
  • four hot peppers (there were long thin green ones, bumpy ones that looked like Habanero mutants, jalapenos, and little red or purple ones (Thai bird peppers, maybe?). I didn't get a Habanero.)
  • a bunch of kale (I ended up with purple again.)
  • ten (very large) carrots
  • a small stalk of broccoli
  • a head of garlic

  • fruit share: four pears

And there was a gauging of interest for a winter share! W00t! If at least 50 people sign up, it would be an every other week delivery for the next couple of months. Mostly roots and late greens, of course, but it would be so cool!

Boston Organics, small box, part fruit.
  • two eggplants
  • a bunch of collards (local)
  • two mid-sized zucchinis
  • two heads of garlic
  • four biggish baking potatoes (apparently Yukon Gold; local)
  • fourteen (!) small sweet potatoes
  • five oranges
  • four plums

And a dozen eggs. Someone's thinking ahead: the newsheet mentions adjusting deliveries for Thanksgiving week, and letting people order extra appropriate vegetables. And they plan to offer organic cranberries! *bouncing dance of cranberry joy*

Oooh...I had butternut for supper last night. Absolutely scrumptious.

How did you prepare it?

Cut it in half, put it in a corningware dish, added about 1/2 inch water, microwaved on high for 12 minutes.

It might have been fine with only 10.

I want to make soup out of the bits we didn't eat plain. :)

Yum. I never think to microwave squash; it's much quicker than using the oven (and if I'm remembering correctly, one of the foodie magazines thought the result superior to baking).

Sure!

(And I'm glad I checked LJ before going away for the weekend; I would've hated having the question hanging if I'd asked it...)

Heh. No worries... I don't assume people constantly check email the way that I do. ;-)

But I'm glad that you did!
